1. First Time Eating KFC#
Today, while playing with my baby, I ordered two servings of KFC's New Orleans grilled wings. Watching my child enjoy the food made me reminisce about my own journey.
Before graduating from university, I had only eaten KFC once.
That was in high school when my cousin found a sister-in-law in the county town. Her family was in real estate, and it wasn't a perfect match with my brother, but she took us out to eat.
My brother ordered a family bucket, and it felt like a celebration. Although my brother and ex-sister-in-law have since separated, I am still grateful to her for introducing me to KFC and showing me that such delicious food exists in the world.
My younger brother was there too, and he remarked that it wasn't tasty. My brother replied, "You should have said earlier; we didn't get enough to eat." In the 2010s, KFC was a rarity in our area. My brother and sister-in-law were in a loving relationship at that time, and she was very kind to my brother and me, knowing we came from the countryside.
After starting university, KFC was still too expensive for me, but there was a more affordable alternative, Wallace. Once, I ordered 50 yuan worth of Wallace at my ex-boyfriend's house, and he said, "You really know how to spend money; just don't let my dad see."
At that time, 50 yuan was a significant amount for us.
We secretly finished the Wallace burgers in the room, and they were delicious; I felt so happy that I burped.
However, this also meant that my ex-boyfriend and I were not on the same page. He thought that a large sum of money shouldn't be spent on such things, while my taste buds knew better what kind of life I wanted.
Eating KFC Again#
Later, when I started working at a clothing store, the manager was from Anhui, and they liked to eat noodles. However, I always felt unsatisfied after eating noodles and even felt a bit nauseous. Once, I had snow vegetable and shredded pork noodles, and there was a fly in the vegetables. I told the chubby auntie, and she said it was fine because flies have protein. I paid unhappily. 😭
When I didn't bring lunch, I would order a work meal. At that time, KFC work meals cost about 18 or 20 yuan and always came with a Coke. I was reluctant to order my favorite New Orleans grilled wings separately, but if there was a combo deal, I would splurge and buy it for a meal.
At that time, my salary was 3500 yuan. After working for half a year, I saved money to buy a washing machine and color TV for my family, earning the recognition of the village elders, who thought I was doing well outside.
But I was struggling, hating to take the bus because I would get motion sickness. Every day at work, I rotated between morning and evening shifts, and when I took the bus to work in the afternoon for the evening shift, I felt very depressed.
2. Entering the Crypto World and Saying Goodbye to KFC#
At the end of 2015, I met my first boss through Didi. I hailed his BMW. At that time, Didi had just entered the Nanjing market, and a ride only cost a little over 2 yuan, while the bus also cost 2 yuan, but transferring buses would cost 4 yuan, so of course, I chose Didi.
Later, this boss thought I was very willing to share. I had hailed his car after finishing an Amway course. He believed that if I could accept a course like Amway, it meant I had enough openness towards things, and I would surely accept the crypto world or financial schemes.
My boss was involved in financial schemes using the crypto world. I had just graduated and didn't understand these things, so during meetings, I would carefully attend to his clients.
Once, for business communication, my boss introduced us to #Bitcoin #Ethereum for the first time, and my eyes lit up. Ethereum dropped from over 20 yuan to 3 yuan, and the market users were in despair, but then it started to rise to over 800 yuan (I can't remember the exact details; there might be discrepancies). My first exposure to the exchange Yunbi made me go home and research how to deposit and withdraw funds.
Unfortunately, from the second half of 2016 to 2017, I missed out on 20 million in my life. At that time, Yunbi had many coins that increased by hundreds of times, like SC, and I was among the top 100 holders on the entire network, but I exited during a dip.
The crypto world awakened my greed, and from then on, I looked down on working for a living. I took a semi-pyramid scheme course that cost about 80,000 yuan. How could someone earning 3500 yuan a month afford such a course?
Borrowing, credit cards, and online loans became my main sources of income, and in the following years, I entered a life of debt hell.
I borrowed 30,000 yuan and ended up paying back over 50,000 yuan to Yirendai within a year; it remains fresh in my memory.
Later, the company that had deceived me into thinking I would achieve life results after finishing the course went bankrupt, but many people like me were drained dry. Companies went bankrupt, marriages ended in divorce, and young people like me lived in debt.
Moreover, I met a scumbag in that course. In 2017, I was tricked by him into buying fake foreign exchange, losing over 100,000 yuan along with friends.
At this point, I no longer had the qualifications to eat KFC.
After finishing my university internship, I returned to my alma mater for the graduation ceremony. Passing by the KFC entrance, I swallowed hard and said in a small group with elders, "I really want to eat KFC and indulge a little."
An older sister offered me 50 yuan to enjoy myself, but I didn't accept it.
3. Days Without the Qualification to Eat KFC#
Borrowing 80,000 Yuan to Go All In on #EOS#
During my life filled with debt and despair, in 2017, the crypto market experienced a bull run. After the 94 incident, many coins surged hundreds or thousands of times. My EOS in the exchange turned into a tenfold profit, amounting to several tens of thousands of yuan, which opened my eyes.
Seeing Through People Around Me When Borrowing Money#
At that time, everyone praised me, saying I had great potential and was very dedicated. When I went to borrow money, suddenly a very gentle older sister turned into a tiger, saying, "I'm at KTV and can't hear your voice. I don't have money to lend; go find someone else." She had once said she felt very sorry for me and would love to throw 5,000 yuan my way. The sudden change left me a bit taken aback; well, I won't say more.
Deciding to Borrow 80,000 Yuan Online#
I found a young person online who was very eager to lend me money, and he could take a cut of the interest.
Fortunately, at that time, there was a big brother and ambassador in the Chinese ICP region who I referred to as my senior. After he met me in Nanjing, he directly lent me 50,000 yuan and told me not to borrow money.
He was from Shandong, and I still remember his kindness, but later I was still very poor. Participating in the Ethereum private placement with him, the ICP never issued coins, and during the bear market for years, my senior also ran out of money and asked me for money. At that time, I seemed to have just become pregnant, buried in debt, and had no money to pay him back. I truly felt sorry for him.
Until ICP issued coins, deducting the private placement portion of ICP offset the 50,000 yuan debt. But my senior was heartbroken by me, and we no longer kept in touch.
So my first pot of gold was ICP, but I hadn't cleared my debts yet.
In the meantime, in 2018, I attended the EOS conference hosted by Captain Wang in Nanjing's Youth Olympic Center, which gave birth to the famous three-wave theory meeting in the crypto world. I decided to go all in on EOS.
Encouraged by me, my ex-boyfriend borrowed 300,000 yuan to invest in the crypto world, and thus, we became a pair of ill-fated lovers.
When we lost money, our relationship also developed cracks, and later we broke up.
4. Once Again Qualified to Eat KFC#
While in debt of over 300,000 yuan, I went to Shanghai to seek fortune.
I carried a year's worth of foot-soaking water.
That year was when I learned the most, spending over four hours commuting daily while listening to Teacher Ni Haixia's traditional Chinese medicine courses on the subway.
I had to walk for over ten minutes to take the light rail to Line 9, then transfer to Line 3 and then Line 1, walking another ten minutes to the company.
It was tough; I watched Teacher Ni Haixia's courses on traditional Chinese medicine, like memory and celestial records, during my commute.
At that time, my ears developed pimples from wearing headphones.
For lunch, I would eat Family Mart's convenience meals or mooch off colleagues.
Once, the manager deliberately ate something nice next to me, and I swallowed hard.
While I was at the store, the company was thriving, and I was very busy every day. The boss ordered takeout to reward us, which was very exquisite. The boss was from Shanghai and was very particular.
When there was an extra cake, the boss said, "What should we do?"
The boss and another founder exchanged knowing smiles and said, "Give it to someone; she will definitely want it."
Guess what?
I took it, but not because I wanted to eat the cake; at that time, I was very dedicated to learning Buddhism and didn't want to waste food. I accepted it very nobly. 😊
But it also had a bit of bittersweetness.
No Wedding Due to Debt#
Later, I secretly got married and didn't dare tell my boss for fear of being fired. At that time, my salary was around 6000 yuan, with five insurances and one fund, which I considered a good job. I needed to use that money to pay off debts, and I didn't even take advantage of the five-day wedding leave.
With over 300,000 yuan in debt, there was naturally no wedding. As I write this, I actually feel tears welling up; it was such a hard time, so poor that I couldn't even afford a wedding.
Half a year after getting married, I became pregnant. During my pregnancy, I looked at patients' tongues and felt nauseous without realizing I was pregnant. My hands trembled while serving clients foot-soaking water, and the manager thought I was being dramatic.
At the most critical moment, a colleague who was pregnant went home, and I felt dizzy every day on the subway, almost fainting. I had no choice but to honestly tell my boss that I was pregnant, and he felt deceived.
When I returned to Nanjing, I was pushed out in a wheelchair by the attendants because my morning sickness had become too severe.
When I found out I was pregnant, I cried. With over 300,000 yuan in debt, how could I raise a child?
It was also this child who brought me good luck in the crypto world.
My chance to turn things around had come.
5. The Rabbit's Opportunity for a Comeback#
Being pregnant, I couldn't go to work.
I returned to the crypto world, which had undergone a transformation. Yunbi had disappeared, while Binance, Huobi, and OKEx were thriving.
My poor EOS could still be dripped, so those who dollar-cost averaged into EOS were all fools. However, all my bad luck in life seemed to have been spent holding EOS, and my future would be filled with good fortune.
Binance's Bull Market#
From the boom of Ethereum's DeFi to the explosion of Tron, then shifting to Huobi Chain, and finally to Binance Chain.
I missed the earlier rounds, but by the time I reached Binance Chain, I had experience playing with meme coins.
In this round, I completely paid off my debts and accumulated assets worth over A7.
Because of my past debts, I became cautious. Once I had capital, I no longer dared to play recklessly.
From then on, I had the qualification to eat KFC and indulge freely.
But by the time I turned 30, my figure was no longer good, so I started dieting while continuing to watch my baby eat, swallowing hard. 😂😂😂
